Historical Truth Negates the Nakba Lie
The Nakba lie paints Israel as an oppressor, driving hundreds of thousands of Palestinians from the Holy Land in 1948. Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) has proposed legislation that seeks to have America embrace this myth to penalize Israel. But history is not on Tlaib’s side. Read on to learn exactly what happened when modern Israel was founded and why we need to stop Tlaib’s disastrous piece of legislation NOW. — Mat

Rep. Rashida Tlaib wants to force Israel to allow more than 5 million Arabs to settle in the Jewish state. Tlaib and other pro-Palestinians continue to push a malignant myth that falsely insists that in 1948, the Jewish state removed some 750,000 Arabs from land that is now inside Israel.
Tlaib has introduced a disastrous resolution, H.Res. 1123, that seeks to force America to endorse and accept the Nakba lie as fact … causing Israel to fall from the consequences of absorbing 5 million adversaries inside its borders.
But historical TRUTH is NOT on Tlaib’s side.
NO NAKBA LIES! STOP H.Res. 1123!
Contemporary Arab testimony testifies to the falsehood and inaccuracy of the Nakba narrative.
The Arab States encouraged the Palestine Arabs to leave their homes temporarily in order to be out of the way of the Arab invasion armies.
—Jordanian newspaper Filastin (February 19, 1949)
Contemporary British testimony testifies to the falsehood and inaccuracy of the Nakba narrative.
While [the refugees] express no bitterness against the Jews, they speak with the utmost bitterness of the Egyptians and other Arab states. “We know who our enemies are,” they will say, and they are referring to their Arab brothers who, they declare, persuaded them unnecessarily to leave their homes.
—Sir J. Troutbeck (June 16, 1949)
Israel’s 1948 Proclamation of Independence invited Arabs to live in peace in Israel as citizens enjoying equal rights:
WE APPEAL - in the very midst of the onslaught launched against us now for months - to the Arab inhabitants of the State of Israel to preserve peace and participate in the upbuilding of the State on the basis of full and equal citizenship and due representation in all its provisional and permanent institutions.
The fact of the matter is, Israel DID NOT expel Arabs from their homes in 1948. Further, there is no legal basis in the 1951 Refugee Convention or its 1967 Protocol for extending refugee status to descendants of the Arabs who left their homes and villages in 1948-49.
Neither history nor international law are on Tlaib’s side. However, Tlaib is using her power as part of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s congressional “Squad” to push the increasingly anti-Israel Congress to punish the Jewish state. .
The entire Holy Land is at risk if Tlaib’s resolution passes, which is why I need you to speak out on behalf of Israel now.
