Rejecting the Nakba Big Lie
A Citizen’s Resolution to House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, and House Minority Whip Steve Scalise, et all.
As a friend of Israel and American citizen, I am asking you, as a leader of the U.S. House of Representatives, to reject H.Res. 388, a resolution introduced by Rep. Rashida Tlaib, “Recognizing the Nakba and Palestinian refugees’ rights,” and to adopt the resolution below REJECTING the Nakba Big Lie.
Whereas the Nakba accusation against Israel falsely asserts that that the Jewish state — at its birth and while defending itself against five invading Arab armies — expelled some 750,000 Arabs from present-day Israel.

Whereas the Nakba accusation against Israel falsely asserts that that the Jewish state — at its birth and while defending itself against five invading Arab armies — expelled some 750,000 Arabs from present-day Israel.
Whereas contemporary Arab testimony testifies to the falsehood and inaccuracy of the Nakba narrative,
The Arab States encouraged the Palestine Arabs to leave their homes temporarily in order to be out of the way of the Arab invasion armies.—Jordanian newspaper Filastin, February 19, 1949
Whereas contemporary British testimony testifies to the falsehood and inaccuracy of the Nakba narrative.
While [the refugees] express no bitterness against the Jews, they speak with the utmost bitterness of the Egyptians and other Arab states. “We know who our enemies are,” they will say, and they are referring to their Arab brothers who, they declare, persuaded them unnecessarily to leave their homes.—Sir J. Troutbeck, June 16, 1949
Whereas Israel’s 1948 Proclamation of Independence invited Arabs to live in peace in Israel as citizens enjoying equal rights,
WE APPEAL — in the very midst of the onslaught launched against us now for months — to the Arab inhabitants of the State of Israel to preserve peace and participate in the upbuilding of the State on the basis of full and equal citizenship and due representation in all its provisional and permanent institutions.
Whereas there is no legal basis in the 1951 Refugee Convention or its 1967 Protocol for extending refugee status to descendants of the Arabs who left their homes and villages in 1948-49.
Whereas the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) teaches, through its schools, the false and poisonous Nakba narrative to young Palestinians.

-
REPUDIATE the false Nakba narrative by voting NO on H.Res. 388.

-
Promote and encourage accurate public understanding of the actual events of the modern rebirth of the Jewish state of Israel.
-
Eliminate all U.S. funding for UNRWA until such time as it repudiates its adherence to the false Nakba narrative and its jihadist anti-Israel curricula in its schools.
-
Reject the false claim that all descendants of Arab Palestinians who left Israel in 1948-49 qualify as “refugees” with a “right of return” into present-day Israel.
