When an Al Jazeera reporter died in May during a clash between Israeli soldiers and Palestinian militants, Rep. Ilhan Omar’s first impulse was to blame and demonize Israel. Tweeting from half a world away, without facts, without evidence, Omar unleashed a diatribe against Israel:

She was killed by the Israeli military, after making her presence as a journalist clearly known. We provide Israel with $3.8 billion in military aid annually with no restrictions. What will it take for accountability for these human rights violations?

And Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) joined the rush to judgment, casting blame on Israel and denouncing the Jewish state in sweeping and unfounded accusations:

When will the world and those who stand by Apartheid Israel that continues to murder, torture and commit war crimes finally say: “Enough”? Shireen Abu Akleh was murdered by a government that receives unconditional funding by our country with zero accountability.

Of course, while lashing out at Israel, Omar has yet to denounce the wave of Palestinian terror that led to the murder of 19 people in Israel this spring. Instead, Omar and Tlaib, a fellow Muslim, along with other members of the “Squad”—Ayanna Pressley (D-MA), Cori Bush (D-MO) and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY)—issue poisonous attacks on Israel with regularity.

Their attacks—unthinkable a decade ago from a member of Congress—resonate inside the increasingly anti-Israel Democrat Party and feed the rising tide of antisemitism in America.

Now, Omar has introduced resolutions in Congress and is urging the Biden administration to make the U.S. a full member of the International Criminal Court—a tribunal that has become one of the Palestinian Authority’s favorite forums for lodging accusations against Israel.

Omar also wants to start up a new “Office of Global Criminal Justice” within the U.S. State Department to address atrocities and war crimes around the world. But especially in Israel, of course.

Omar’s goal is clear: to legitimize and build institutional cudgels with which to attack Israel—a nation Omar accuses of “crimes against humanity.”

Omar and the Squad are fierce opponents who use their platform in Congress to throw rhetorical firebombs at Israel and legitimize institutions like the International Criminal Court to attack the Jewish state. Don’t let them!
