Is Trump Arming Our Enemy?
Turkey Should Not Get America’s F-35s
America's most advanced fighter jet should never be handed to a country that hosts Hamas leaders, has a long history of supporting Islamist movements, and has repeatedly pursued foreign policies fundamentally at odds with America's closest ally in the Middle East: Israel.
Yet Turkey has sought access to the F-35 Lightning II — the most sophisticated fighter aircraft in the world — and Trump is poised to acquiesce!
That should concern every American who understands what is at stake in the Middle East.
Fax Congress now and demand that Congress STOPS the sale of F-35 warplanes to Turkey.
The F-35 is not simply another military aircraft. Its stealth capabilities, advanced sensors, electronic warfare systems, and ability to integrate with other American military assets make it one of the most formidable weapons platforms ever developed. Israel relies on the F-35 to preserve its qualitative military edge in an extraordinarily dangerous region.
Selling the same aircraft to Turkey would raise serious questions about whether America is willing to protect that advantage.
For years, Turkey provided a home for Hamas' political leadership. Turkey has also played a prominent role in supporting Islamist movements throughout the Middle East, including figures and organizations associated with the Muslim Brotherhood.
That creates an obvious question: Why should the United States provide its most sophisticated fighter aircraft to a government that has simultaneously maintained close relationships with Islamist actors committed to Israel's and America’s destruction?
The issue is not whether Turkey is identical to Iran. It is not.
The issue is whether Turkey has demonstrated the level of reliability, strategic alignment, and long-term trustworthiness that should be required before receiving America's most sensitive military technology.
The answer should be no.
Fax Congress now and demand they stop the sale!
