United Nations wrings hands over Iran
America must act soon!
The nationwide uprising that began December 28, 2025, marks one of the most violent and consequential protest movements in the history of the Islamic Republic.
Sparked initially by economic collapse — but quickly expanding into a broad rejection of authoritarian rule — the protests have continued despite, or perhaps in response to, unprecedented state repression.
The scale of civilian deaths, internet blackouts, mass arrests, and the involvement of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in violent crackdowns make clear that the Iranian people are not simply expressing economic frustration. They are demanding fundamental rights and an end to systematic abuses.
For moral, strategic, and humanitarian reasons, the United States must stand decisively with the Iranian people.

The U.N. and international community are urgently calling for action — America must lead!
On January 23, 2026, the U.N. Human Rights Council convened a special session dedicated entirely to the January crackdown — its third emergency session on Iran in three years, underscoring the severity of the crisis. The Council passed a resolution extending the Independent Fact-Finding Mission’s mandate for two additional years, citing the “unprecedented scale” of violence and the need for urgent investigations.
U.N. Special Rapporteur Mai Sato condemned Iranian authorities for labeling peaceful protesters as “terrorists,” a tactic, she warned, that directly fuels lethal force and torture.
This moment is critical as the U.N., rights groups, and civil society are coordinating more closely than ever to document the regime’s crimes. The United States must strengthen this momentum through diplomatic, economic, and technological support.
