“According to our intelligence, this is no consulate, and this is no embassy,” Israel Defense Forces spokesperson Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari told reporters Monday. “I repeat, this is no consulate, and this is no embassy. This is a military building of Quds forces disguised as a civilian building in Damascus.”

The declaration came on the heels of an attack on an IRGC training headquarters in Damascus, which happened to be located near an unofficial building the Iranians have claimed is an embassy.

The attack killed two of the IRGC’s top commanders and at least five Quds Force officers. Quds is the arm of the IRGC’s fighting forces responsible for foreign terror operations, including providing assistance and training to Iranian proxies like Hezbollah and Hamas.

Arab affairs expert Hezi Simantov says Iran is trying “to activate their militias in Syria or the Houthis in Yemen,” because Iran’s other primary proxy, Hamas, is “currently at a disadvantage because of the fighting in Gaza.”

Iran is “laying the groundwork to strike at Israeli diplomatic representations worldwide, in the Arab world, Europe, or the United States or South America,” Simantov continued.

Simantov noted that we can expect Iran and its proxies to step up terror throughout the Holy Land, saying, “this situation in which it [Iran] is increasingly engaging in terrorism activities in Syria, Lebanon, Yemen, and the envelope to pressure Israel — that is something it will continue to do.

But Israel “has very good intelligence about what is happening in Syria and Lebanon, unlike what is happening in the Gaza Strip, even before October 7,” Simantov added. “There is still very good intelligence about these trained members of the Revolutionary Guards and senior Hezbollah figures in Lebanon and Syria.”

Iranian officials have made clear they intend to step up efforts against Israel, as well as the United States, for supporting the Jewish state. Although it has not been widely reported, Iranian proxies like Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthi rebels have continued firing missiles and otherwise attacking Israel in the time after October 7’s full-scale Hamas offensive.

And, as you know, on April 13, Iran launched a historic direct confrontation with Israel, showering the Jewish state with over 300 drone-delivered bombs. Israel responded with a down-scale attack deep in Iran’s territory, delivering a missile into Iran’s Isfahan nuclear armament territory.

We will soon close our petition demanding the U.S. government support full victory for Israel in this war that happened as a direct result of Iran’s proxy terror attack on innocent Jews.
