More Vicious Attacks On US Synagogues...

A sick new antisemitic purge has broken out across the country. For the last four weeks, racists have targeted American synagogues with bomb attacks. But with open antisemitism being displayed in Congress, and the leader of the free world attempting to handicap the world’s only Jewish state at every turn, what should we expect? Read on. — Mat

Rabbi Mati Kirschenbaum stopped Cantor Shannon McGrady Bane's singing mid-song on Saturday. "I am afraid that we need to stop and leave the building right now," the rabbi told his flock.

Shock and fear broke out on the faces of the faithful gathered for Saturday services at Temple Beth Tikvah in Fullerton, California. A bomb threat had been called in. Congregants grabbed their loved ones and raced for the shul doors.

The episode was a mirror of the chaos the night before at Temple Beth Torah in Freemont, California, where Jews were forced to flee Friday evening Shabbat services after they, too, received a phoned-in bomb threat.

Defend Israel with your gift today.

These California incidents are not isolated. For the last four weeks, Jewish people across America have come under attack in a wave of bomb threats. At least 26 synagogues in 12 states have received similar threats.

Two Anti-Defamation League (ADF) offices were also targeted over the weekend.

According to the ADF, racists are targeting synagogues that offer livestreamed internet services so that twisted antisemites can take sick pleasure in watching terrified Jews flee their shul and Shabbat services in real time.

Like the Texas incident last year when a man took a rabbi and his congregants hostage during a livestreamed service, these racists want their actions to be seen online, by as many as possible.

“This is what happens when individuals coalesce around their hatred of Jews and use technology to try to optimize that,” Oren Segal, vice president of the ADL’s Center on Extremism, told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency.

But what else can we expect when leaders in our own government, from members of Congress to the White House, continue to disparage and demean Jews, as well as the world’s only Jewish state?

Members of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s “Squad” openly refer to Israel as a “racist state,” while Joe Biden uses his office to empower Israel’s enemies, interfere with Israeli elections, and engage in an unauthorized boycott against Israel.

Is it any wonder that antisemitic attacks have been on the rise in America the last few years? But this latest campaign is “a level beyond what is normal,” according to Segal.

“What makes this different is that this is a particular campaign using tools that many of us take for granted but that we can see are weaponized,” Segal said. But the ADF will not cower to bigots. Rather than cancel online services, the ADF recommends that American synagogues have a solid action and security plan.

“As people go into the High Holidays, it’s just another thing to be concerned about and to be prepared for,” Segal said.

Our Jewish friends should not have to worry whether it is safe for them to attend synagogue. Neither should they worry that some of the highest offices in the land stand in opposition to them and the world’s only Jewish state.

That’s why it is critical that America stands strong with Israel. Your generosity strengthens our efforts to ensure our nation remains a resolute friend of the Jewish state!

Thank you so much for partnering with CIDI to bless and defend Israel and the Jewish people!
