Anne Frank's Friend Spoke With Me About This

The chilling story of Anne Frank’s last days in a Nazi death camp — as told by her childhood friend, a woman I knew — is a vivid reminder why you and I must do all in our power NOW to speak, pray, and act on Israel’s behalf ... and NEVER stop! Your generosity makes it possible. — Mat

Defend Israel today with your generous donation.

“I have no one.”

Those were some of the last words Anne Frank said to her close childhood friend Hannah Pick-Goslar. Both Jewish, the teen girls talked at night through a barbed-wire fence separating them inside the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp.

It was February 1945. A cold rain was falling and both risked death to be there in the darkness. Fearsome SS guards with machine guns manned watchtowers. Others patrolled with fierce German shepherds on leads.

Will YOU stand with the Jewish people and defend Israel?

Childhood friends Anne and Hannah had not seen each other since 1942 when Anne’s family vanished. Hannah was told the Frank family left for Switzerland and safety, so it shocked Hannah to see her clever, lively friend shivering in rags and bald, an emaciated shadow of her former self.

Hannah Pick-Goslar, whom I had the privilege of meeting, recently passed away in Israel at age 93. She recalled her concentration camp encounter with Anne in her book, My Friend Anne Frank. . .

My heart was thumping so loudly I was almost surprised I could hear the small, quiet voice that called out: “Hanneli? Hanneli, is that actually you?” “Yes, yes, Anne, it’s me!” I answered. We both instantly broke into tears, the same cold rain falling on us on opposite sides of this cursed fence.

Anne told Hannah her sister was dying, her mother had already succumbed, and her father, Anne thought, had died, too.

Anne’s own life ended soon after, at age 15 — just weeks before Allied troops liberated Bergen-Belsen on April 15, 1945. Her father, Otto Frank, did survive, and later found Anne’s famous diary, which has since been read by millions.

Anne Frank is one of 6 million Jews who perished in Hitler’s cruel Holocaust. Nazi forces mercilessly snatched Jewish men, women, and children from their homes, forced them into horribly cramped and inhumane conditions, and murdered millions in Nazi gas chambers.

Anne’s friend, Hannah Pick-Goslar, lost both her parents but survived and made her way to Israel where she married and raised a family. For years, Hannah told her gripping Holocaust memories at Yad Vashem, the World Holocaust Remembrance Center in Jerusalem.

I had the privilege of taking many Covenant Journey student tour groups to Yad Vashem where students listened spellbound as she gave her eyewitness account of one of the most dark and diabolical episodes in history.

"Never again" is the fierce and resolute pledge of the Jewish people. And it must be ours, too.

ISRAEL’S FRIENDS ARE FEW ...

"I have no one," Anne Frank mourned weeks before her death. Likewise, the Jewish people today have very few friends who will stand with her ...

The United Nations is a bastion of antisemitism — a theater of the absurd where Iran sits on the U.N.’s “Committee on Disarmament and International Security.” And a body that condemns Israel even more than dictatorships like North Korea, Iran, Syria, and Saudi Arabia.

Antisemitism is growing in America and across Europe. Snarling enemies of Israel inside the Democrat Party blast it as a “racist” and “apartheid” state while party elders look the other way. Nationwide, more Democrats now proclaim sympathy for the Palestinians than for Israel. And hate for Israel festers on college campuses nationwide.

Now is the time for you and me, as Bible-believing Christians, to stand with and pray for the Jewish people. And to make our voice heard in Washington, D.C.

You make that happen as you give to this pro-Israel outreach. Please be as generous as you can to help us be a voice for the Jewish people.

Pray for Israel and please consider a generous gift now. Your much-needed support will advance CIDI’s work ...

  • In Washington, where we work with lawmakers on Israel’s behalf.

  • Nationwide through our online outreach to activate grassroots Americans to speak for Israel.

  • And in Israel itself, where we lead Covenant Journey tours that build committed believers who are strong, well-informed advocates for the Jewish state.

Scripture declares that “the people of Israel ... are near to Him (God),” that they are the “apple of His eye,” His “treasured possession.” And that God will bless those who bless His people (see Ps. 148:14, Zech. 2:8, Deut. 14:2, and Gen. 12:3).

That’s why it’s critical that America stands strong with Israel. Your generosity now strengthens our efforts to help ensure our nation remains a resolute friend of the Jewish state!

Thank you so much for partnering with CIDI to bless and defend Israel and the Jewish people!
