A group of U.S. senators just put Joe Biden and his State Department on notice — end the boycott against Israel … or else.

On July 11, U.S. Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) used his leverage as a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee to dress down Joe Biden and his anti-Israel cabinet.

The letter blasted Biden’s June 25, 2023, directive to the State Department to immediately suspend scientific and technological cooperation with Israeli entities operating in Judea, Samaria, and parts of Jerusalem.

Biden’s boycott is in direct violation of a Trump-era bilateral agreement guaranteeing the aforementioned technological and scientific collaboration with the Jewish state.

The senators’ letter points out that Biden’s boycott “does something America has never done before: unilaterally impose territorial restrictions on U.S. scientific research aid to Israel.”

“The new guidance as written constitutes an antisemitic boycott of Israel,” the senators wrote. “The American people and Congress broadly and deeply oppose boycott efforts against Israel, which have been repeatedly defined in U.S. law as efforts to limit [commerce] with persons doing business in any territories controlled by Israel.”

Scott and his fellow senators also noted the Biden administration’s rank hypocrisy, stating “it is untenable for State Department officials to continue testifying to Congress that they support the U.S.-Israel relationship and then — once out of view — to push policies designed to undermine that relationship.”

Sen. Scott’s demand letter was co-signed by 14 other senators: Sens. Ted Cruz (R-TX), Marco Rubio (R-FL), John Cornyn (R-TX), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Rick Scott (R-FL), Bill Hagerty (R-TN), Ted Budd (R-NC), Pete Ricketts (R-NE), Tom Cotton (R-AR), Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), Mike Braun (R-IN), John Barrasso (R-WY), James Risch (R-ID) and Roger Wicker (R-MS).

Biden tried to HIDE his actions, but YOU made a difference for Israel! The senators’ letter specifically noted that “[a]dministration officials did not formally notify Congress or make the policy public, until journalists did it for them.”

Not a single Democrat joined in supporting Israel by signing the letter. And 35 Republicans also failed to sign.

Support for the world’s only Jewish state should be bipartisan. After all, America was instrumental in establishing modern Israel after World War II.

Yet too many in Congress have been cowed by the vicious antisemitism spewing from members Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rashida Tlaib, Pramila Jayapal and the like.

Joe Biden and his anti-Israel cabinet have taken advantage of the silence to deploy attack after attack upon our friends in Israel.

Biden’s actions parallel Hezbollah’s second favorite project, the BDS campaign launched by Palestinian insurgents. BDS, which stands for Boycott, Divest, and Sanction, seeks to isolate Israel and Jews who support Israel’s right to exist. The goal is to starve Israel of financial security, which, in the end, only serves to harm the Israeli people.
