“The boycott, divestment, and sanctions movement is the single most destructive campaign of economic warfare facing the Jewish state of Israel today,” Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) says.Boycott, Divest, and Sanction (BDS) is nothing less than economic warfare waged against the world’s only Jewish state.“Amid a rising tide of anti-Semitism, it’s critical that we stand shoulder to shoulder with our closest democratic ally in the Middle East,” says Sen. Rubio, who believes this bill is well constructed to bring an end to the BDS movement’s blatant antisemitism.In an increasingly rare display of bipartisanship on Capitol Hill, Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) co-sponsored the bill with Sen Rubio.
“The bipartisan Combating BDS Act is a step towards ensuring individual states have the right to pass laws that prevent business transactions with the anti-Israeli BDS movement,” Sen. Manchin says. “I urge my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to join this bipartisan legislation to support individual states and our valued ally, Israel.”Pro-Palestinian groups, predominant on our nation’s college campuses, are putting heavy pressure on cities and states to force them to participate in the economic warfare against Israel.Sens. Rubio and Manchin’s bill, S 1637, seeks to “provide for nonpreemption of measures by State and local governments to divest from entities that engage in certain boycott, divestment, or sanctions activities targeting Israel or persons doing business in Israel or Israeli-controlled territories, and for other purposes.”This bill has been introduced in the past, but then-Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi REFUSED to allow the measure to come to a floor for a vote.With Rep.
