CHAOS in Israel — Thanks to Biden

Joe Biden speaks out against Prime Minister Netanyahu’s democratic reforms but SILENT as Iran threatens “Death to Israel.” Now is the time to pray for peace and stand with Israel!

Please join me in calling on Speaker Kevin McCarthy and House Majority Leader Steve Scalise to lead the House in passing a resolution decrying Biden’s unconscionable meddling in Israeli internal affairs. Then read on for the news. — Mat

As I write, Israel is engulfed in social turmoil — which is why I am asking you to pray and to act on behalf of God's chosen people.

Just a few weeks ago, Israel's president made a nationally televised speech warning that "Israel is on the verge of a constitutional and social collapse." The Jewish nation, he said, stands at the precipice of "civil violence."

And you probably won't be surprised to learn that Joe Biden is throwing gasoline on the flames. Here's what's happening ...

Israel's duly elected government, led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, is poised to make good on a key campaign promise — ending three decades of judicial tyranny by Israel's activist Supreme Court.

It's high time. American legal scholar Robert Bork warned two decades ago that Israel's high court is "the greatest threat to Israeli democracy."

Having won the Israeli election in November, Netanyahu's government is setting out to enact long-overdue democratic safeguards limiting the Jewish state's runaway and power-drunk judiciary.

And that has ignited fury on the Israeli left, which can't win at the polls but now rules through the courts.

Thousands of incensed Israelis have staged weekly demonstrations opposing the Netanyahu-led government's commonsense judicial reform proposals. A noisy crowd blared horns and burned tires outside Prime Minister Netanyahu's official Jerusalem residence, protesting the "Crime Minister’s" plan to rein in Israel's activist judiciary.

Some on the Israeli left are spouting unhinged and incendiary remarks:

  • A retired senior Israeli Air Force officer called for the murder of PM Netanyahu if judicial reform is passed.

  • An Israeli lawyer threatened to "use live fire" if the Israeli government approves a judicial reform package.

  • A former attorney general labeled judicial reform "regime change" and warned "some people will pay the price in blood."

  • A former prime minister called for "war," declaring, "War is not waged with speeches. War is waged in a face-to-face battle, head-to-head and hand-to-hand, and that is what will happen here.”

  • Another ex-prime minister told Israelis at a mass rally, "We will fight in the streets, we’ll fight until we win."

And Joe Biden? Well, this won't surprise you ...

Biden intervened publicly with Netanyahu's enemies on the Israeli left. This is a purely internal Israeli matter, but that didn't stop Biden from giving his "thumbs down" on Netanyahu's judicial reform plan — and doing so the day before the first Knesset vote on judicial reform.

Biden told New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman Israel needed "consensus" for "fundamental changes” — as if November's national election (the fifth in four years) was not enough.

Friedman took Biden's words as a clear “cease and desist” order to Netanyahu. And should Bibi keep "plowing ahead," the writer said, " ... he will be snubbing the American president ... that's no small deal."

Biden said nothing to quell the domestic uproar in Israel. If anything, he emboldened the Israeli left. The day after his comments appeared in the New York Timesbedlam reigned at the Knesset.

The uproar came when a committee voted on measures to allow the government to select judges and have the right to override Supreme Court decisions through legislation.

That's basic democracy here in America — but those proposals ignited ferocious opposition.

Instead of civil debate, judicial reform opponents yelled, jumped over tables, and had to be physically removed by Knesset orderlies. Some sat on the floor to resist removal.

Meanwhile, Iran races toward the bomb. While Biden meddles in Israeli domestic life, the world's leading terror state builds its stockpile of enriched uranium and menaces Israel.

The radical Islamic state recently displayed a towering ballistic missile with the words, “Death to Israel,” emblazoned in Hebrew on its side.

That is why I ask you to immediately take the following three vital steps:

  1. Commit to pray for the "peace of Jerusalem” — which is under assault from within and without.

  2. Fax your signed DEFEND DEMOCRACY petition to Congress calling on Speaker Kevin McCarthy and House Majority Leader Steve Scalise to lead the House in passing a resolution decrying Biden's unconscionable meddling in Israeli internal affairs.

  3. Give generously to help Christians in Defense of Israel bless and defend God's people at this time of extreme upheaval, not to mention the grave threat from its enemies encircling the Jewish state.

Finally, please pray for peace in the Holy Land! May God bless you for standing with Israel!
