UN Decried As "Place of Darkness"
Israel’s newly elected prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, calls the U.N. a “theater of the absurd” and a “place of darkness for my country.”
It is a place where Israel can do almost no right. And rogue states like Syria, Iran and North Korea can do almost no wrong. Just last year, the 193-nation U.N. General Assembly passed 14 resolutions criticizing Israel.
And this has been going on for years.
Four decades ago, America’s Ambassador to the U.N. Jeanne Kirkpatrick charged the organization was “pathologically obsessed” with Israel. She called it “the principal forum of a concerted worldwide campaign against” the Jewish state. For example:
-
The U.N. General Assembly approved in 1975 an infamous resolution, since revoked, declaring that “Zionism is a form of racism.”
-
From 1980 to 1988, the U.N. held annual votes to oust the one Jewish state from the United Nations.
-
UNESCO declared the Tomb of the Patriarchs—the resting place of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Sarah and Rebekah—to be a Palestinian World Heritage site!
-
Every session of the U.N. Human Rights Council includes a permanent agenda item targeting Israel alone.
Corrupt, bloated and oozing hypocrisy, this so-called standard-bearer for peace and human rights has welcomed a parade of despots to the U.N. dais. Brutal tyrants like Fidel Castro, Idi Amin, Muammar Gaddafi. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Yasser Arafat have all addressed the U.N. General Assembly—sometimes to cheers and applause.
In 1975, the U.N. General Assembly welcomed Uganda dictator and ruthless mass murderer Idi Amin. The military ruler called for Israel’s expulsion from the U.N. and the “extinction of Israel as a state.” He walked out to a standing ovation.
The recent creation of the U.N. Commission of Inquiry—with its open-ended mandate to assault Israel—is one more outrage in the organization’s long history of hate for Israel, and it demands a sharp and forceful response.
Will you stand with Israel now—and with victims of Palestinian terror like 5-year-old Ido and his family?
Sign and fax the Denounce, Resign, Defund! demand letter calling on the new Congress to act against the United Nations.
