Israel's enemies at the United Nations have developed a new way to attack the Jewish state. Called a “Commission of Inquiry,” this permanent group has an all-encompassing mandate to probe all of Israel’s alleged “human rights violations” since 1948—the birthdate of modern Israel.

And to do so with no end date. But the commission is not investigating Hamas, Palestinians or even Iran. This new commission’s sole purpose is to persecute Israel.

With a three-year start-up budget of nearly $12 million and an annual budget of almost $5 million in succeeding years, the commission’s 23 full-time staff members, including five attorneys, will churn out reports every six months to demonize Israel ... and worse.

The commission is headed by a known enemy of Israel, Navi Pillay, who slanders it as an “apartheid” state. Far from being fair or objective, Pillay has accused Israel of “horrific acts,” blasting it for “the killing of civilians, including children, as they played or shopped.”

That is just a taste of what this commission—some are calling it “Pillay’s Pogrom”—will be telling the world in coming days. UNLESS, that is, you and I, and other friends of Israel, DEMAND that Congress condemn this dangerous attack on the Jewish state.

It is critical to know that this unprecedented threat to Israel goes beyond bigoted resolutions and angry attacks from the U.N. dais. It has teeth.

It will, as Israeli scholar Anne Bayefsky observes, produce findings that will be treated as evidence against Israel in criminal prosecutions. These criminal proceedings, Bayefsky adds, “will have one overarching goal: to declare that the Jewish state is a criminal state.”

And the investigatory scope of this permanent commission—staffed exclusively with enemies of Israel—extends far beyond Israel’s conflict with Hamas last May.

I could go on, but you get the picture. Israel is in the bull’s eye, and the U.N. has just created an automatic weapon with a mandate to fire at will. So, friends of Israel like you and me have a decision to make …

We can join our voices in defense of Israel and demand that Congress condemn this scandalous attack on God’s chosen people. Or we can do nothing and allow the U.N. to criminalize Israel while our tax dollars help foot the bill.

Which will it be?
