Like you, I was amazed when President Donald Trump announced that Israel and the United Arab Emirates will establish normal diplomatic ties.

This breakthrough agreement—dubbed the “Abraham Accord”—is huge, historic, and utterly unexpected. With this deal—to be inked at a White House ceremony in mere weeks—the UAE will become just the third Arab state to forge diplomatic ties with Israel.

While this is historic, Israel must not give up land for this deal. And Father Abraham, I believe, would not be pleased, if that were to happen, even though the parties meant to honor him. I’ll explain below.

I want to give President Trump his due. Because of this deal, you and I may soon see a revolution in Middle East politics. Now that the UAE has broken the ice and established ties, other Arab Gulf states are reportedly lining up to follow suit. One such nation may be Saudi Arabia. I have spoken to my friends in Israel, and they are optimistically in favor of the accord, so long as Israel is not divided.

Only a decade ago, Saudi King Abdullah declared that Israel does not “deserve to exist.” Yet Saudi Arabia, the birthplace of Islam, may soon normalize relations with the Jewish state. White House advisor Jared Kushner even says it’s an “inevitability.”

All this sounds fabulous. But there’s a giant catch.

To get to peace, Israel reportedly agreed to suspend annexation of land that goes back to the biblical Promised Land. Conflicting reports state that Israel agreed to “suspend” plans to extend its sovereignty over up to 30 percent of Judea and Samaria—the so-called “West Bank.” Even worse, no one knows when that suspension will end—if ever.

In making this costly concession, Israel walked away from a golden opportunity. It gave up a once-in-a-lifetime chance to dramatically expand its territory, secure its eastern border, and regain more of its God-given inheritance.

And because presidential candidate Joe Biden utterly rejects Israeli sovereignty in Judea and Samaria, this opportunity should be exercised quickly!

Land cannot be the price for peace or trade.
