New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, who governs the single largest population of Jews in the United States, this week illegally and unconstitutionally threatened to permanently close any synagogue or church that dares to open its doors.

Several other mayors and governors around the country have also implemented specific edicts shuttering places of worship. And to date, only 5 of our 50 states have officially designated synagogues and churches as “essential services” that may remain open.

The First Amendment to the Constitution specifically states that no government or government agency may “establish” a religion, nor can it “prohibit the free exercise thereof.”  It is easily argued that in specifying how a synagogue or church may deliver its services, such a government is “establishing” a church, while also prohibiting believers from freely exercising their own personal faith.

This is blatantly unconstitutional, and such an action is deeply dangerous not only in the physical realm of our world, but also in the spiritual battle playing out before us.

As God’s original “chosen people” prepare to celebrate Passover, and as Christians grafted into God’s tree of life prepare to celebrate the ultimate sacrifice of our Redeemer, Jesus Christ, we cannot allow government officials — whether federal, state or local — to force our houses of worship to be closed.

Christians in Defense of Israel is fighting these unconstitutional synagogue and church bans, but we need your help in two vital ways...

First, we encourage you to follow the example of the Israelites when they smeared the blood of the lamb on their door posts during the plagues in Egypt. Anoint every corner of your home with oil, and pray the Blood of Jesus over you, the ministry of CIDI, the church, the state, the nation and all of our leaders. Pray that God will crush this virus!

Second, please take a moment to fax Mayor Bill de Blasio and let him know that we will NOT allow him to shutter synagogues and churches - not now and most certainly not during the Passover and Easter season!
