"Whoever Blesses Israel Is Blessed"

Guatemala’s incoming president made news in Israel when he declared his support for keeping Guatemala’s embassy in Jerusalem. "Whoever blesses Israel is blessed – it's a matter of faith," president-elect Alejandro Giammattei told Israel Hayom news.

It’s also a divine promise: “I will bless those who bless you,” God told Abraham, “and him who dishonors you I will curse” (Gen. 12:3).

That’s a wonderful promise—and I believe God is blessing America today as we stand with Israel. But it also leaves no room for neutrality. We cannot be bystanders when it comes to defending the Jewish people.

And one way you can stand with Israel now is to support CIDI. With 2019 quickly coming to a close, take advantage of the Year-End Challenge Grant to see your generosity effectively doubled when you give by midnight on December 31.

The Old Testament prophet Obadiah declared God’s judgment on Edom when it “stood aloof” as Israel’s enemies attacked:

On the day you stood aloof
while strangers carried off his [Judah’s] wealth
and foreigners entered his gates
and cast lots for Jerusalem,
you were like one of them. (Obadiah 11)

But the Lord has also provided us even more guideposts to light our way, through the words of the people who lived through the most devastating act of genocide in human history – the attempted eradication of the Jewish people during the Holocaust.

"There were in 1933 and in the following years here in Germany 14,000 Evangelical pastors and nearly as many parishes...If at the beginning of the Jewish persecutions we had seen that it was the Lord Jesus Christ who was being persecuted, struck down and slain in "the least of these our brethren," if we had been loyal to Him and confessed Him, for all I know God would have stood by us, and then the whole sequence of events would have taken a different course. And if we had been ready to go with Him to death, the number of victims might well have been only some ten thousand."
Martin Niemöller, leader in the Christian Resistance against Adolf Hitler

And this:

“We are personally to blame. We all have to admit that if we, the entire Christian community, had stood up as one man and if, after the burning of the synagogues [on Krystallnacht], we had gone out on the streets and voiced our disapproval, rung the church bells, and somehow boycotted the actions of the S.S., the Devil’s vassals would probably not have been at such liberty to pursue their evil schemes.

But we lacked the ardor of love—love that is never passive, love that cannot bear it when its fellowmen are in misery, particularly when they are subjected to such appalling treatment and tortured to death. Indeed, if we had loved God, we would not have endured seeing those houses of God set ablaze; and holy, divine wrath would have filled our souls”
—Basilea Schlink, a German Christian leader who lived through the Third Reich

Anti-Jewish sentiment and violence are on the rise, not only here in America, but in the Middle East where Israel’s neighbors regularly declare their intentions to annihilate God’s chosen people and turn them into little more than dust to be scattered in the wind.

Once again, we see violent public attacks on Jews, simply because they are Jews.

Once again, we see the burning of synagogues.

Once again, we see the destruction of kosher shops and the murder of their keepers.

Once again, we find ourselves living in an age where European Jews are afraid to identify as Jews in public.

Will you stay silent, as so many Germans did in 1930?  Or will you join us NOW, and stand with the people of Israel?

With 2019 almost over, your generosity now will help CIDI end strong, ready to do even more in 2020 to bless and defend the Jewish people.

Stand with Israel now. Make a year-end gift today!

Thank you for your generous heart, your prayers, and your commitment to love and bless Israel and the Jewish people!

Together for Israel,

Mat Staver, Chairman
