WRONG Time to Bash Israel

Talk about bad timing.

Just as Palestinian terrorists in Gaza fired some 450 shrapnel-loaded explosive rockets at Israeli civilians, the European Union made its unhappiness known . . . with Israel.

While a million Israelis hunkered down in bomb shelters and safe rooms this week, the EU’s top court sided with the “boycott Israel” movement.

The European Court of Justice ruled that Israeli goods produced in so-called settlements must bear labels with the word “settlement” on them, instead of “Made in Israel.” The ruling applies to goods made in Judea and Samaria (the West Bank), the Golan Heights and east Jerusalem.

The reason? So shoppers can make “informed choices.” In other words, so Europeans can boycott Israeli products from disputed areas.

The U.S. State Department weighed in immediately, announcing the U.S. is “deeply concerned” by the EU ruling.

"America stands with Israel against efforts to economically pressure, isolate, or delegitimize it," a spokeswoman declared.

That’s the good news. Here’s the bad . . .

House Democrats refuse to take up and pass a crucial bill to help protect Israel from the malicious campaign to boycott, divest and sanction (BDS) Israel.

If passed, the Combating BDS Act will cripple the virulently anti-Semitic movement. The bill empowers state and local governments to cut ties with businesses that endorse BDS—to boycott firms that boycott Israel.

+  +  BDS threatens Israel

It’s a strong, must-pass measure to help deliver a knockout punch to BDS in America. And that’s vital for Israel because BDS threatens Israel’s very existence.

“We are in the midst of a great struggle being waged against the state of Israel, an international campaign to blacken its name,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned about BDS. “It is not connected to our actions; it is connected to our very existence.”

BDS is a terror-linked, anti-Semitic global movement which, at its heart, seeks to erase Israel from the map.

Popular on U.S. college campuses, the BDS movement brands Israel with absurd and blatantly false accusations. It charges the Middle East’s one democracy with racism, ethnic cleansing, war crimes and even genocide.

And all to delegitimize, demonize and ultimately destroy the world’s one and only Jewish state.

BDS leader Omar Barghouti could not be more clear: “Definitely, most definitely we oppose a Jewish state in any part of Palestine. No Palestinian . . . will ever accept a Jewish state in Palestine.”

And violence is a legitimate tool for Barghouti and his sycophants who justify “resistance by any means, including armed resistance.”

+  +  Tell House leaders to pass the Combating BDS Act!

Here’s why action on the Combating BDS Act is so needed now. The Senate approved it in February. But House Democrat won’t even give this historic pro-Israel measure a vote!

And today I’m asking you to help break this political log jam. Between Republicans and moderate Democrats in the House, the votes are there to get this bill passed into law.

But you and I must supply political pressure.

That’s why I ask you to sign the “Pass the Combating BDS Act of 2019 Now!” petition today.

It’s urgent that we collect thousands of names on this crucial petition and send them—with your name included—to the offices of Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Majority Leader Steny Hoyer.

Please act immediately! It’s an outrage that this must-pass measure has been gathering dust in Speaker Pelosi’s inbox for eight long months!

Along with your signed petition to Speaker Pelosi, I ask you to please make a generous and much-needed gift. Your gift now will help us fight for the Jewish state on Capitol Hill and mobilize Christians to stand with Israel.

But without the help of friends like you, none of this would be possible. Our pro-Israel voice would fall silent.

Please sign the “Pass the Combating BDS Act of 2019 Now!” petition right away and be as generous as you can when you do!

Your friendship with Israel and Christians in Defense of Israel is deeply appreciated and I thank you.

Together for Israel,

Mat Staver
