Now Omar Wants to Cut Israel's Lifeline
Still smarting from Israel's fully justified decision to deny them entry last week, congresswomen Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib unleashed caustic, biting attacks on the world's one and only Jewish state in a press conference yesterday.
The Israel-hating duo blasted Israel for its alleged "occupation" of "Palestinian land" and compared it to apartheid South Africa.
Omar, who sits on the House Foreign Affairs Committee and backs the anti-Semitic BDS movement, made it clear she's ready to cut Israel's lifeline--U.S. financial aid.
But here's what's even worse. The leader of the ultra-liberal Congressional Progressive Caucus--a block of about 100 radical House Democrats--also thinks U.S. aid to Israel should be reconsidered.
You and I must respond! Would you join me in a flash petition to key House and Senate leaders?
This crucial "Don't Cut U.S. Aid to Israel!" petition reaffirms our strong support for American aid to Israel. It states unequivocally that we stand by Israel and fiercely oppose Omar and Tlaib's vicious demonization of the world's one and only Jewish state.I want to gather many thousands of signatures and have this petition waiting for House and Senate leaders when they return from recess on September 3.
+ + Omar's abject ignorance
In her press conference yesterday, Omar displayed her abject ignorance of Israel's long history of territorial concession offers to the Palestinian Authority--all of which have been rejected.
Instead, Omar put all the blame on Israel for the Israel/Palestinian conflict. She charged, "they [Israel] maintain the occupation and prevent a solution to the conflict."
For that reason, Omar said, U.S. aid to Israel--its lifeline in the midst of blood-thirsty enemies--should be put on the chopping block.
“We give Israel more than $3 billion in aid every year . . . the only 'democracy in the Middle East,'” Omar said, gesturing quote marks to show her contempt for that last claim.
And then Omar put in the knife.
"We must be asking the Netanyahu government: Stop the expansion of settlements on Palestinian land and ensure full rights for Palestinians if we are going to give them aid.”
The co-chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus--a block of about 100 House Democrats--agrees with Omar. "I think we're going to have to have some serious conversations even about financial support," Rep. Mark Pocan (D-Wis) told The Hill.
Frankly, all this is chilling. House Democrats openly talk about cutting aid to Israel after it refuses to let two House members who are open enemies of the Jewish state stage a propaganda tour of what they call "Palestine"!
And that's why I invite you to immediately sign our "Don't Cut U.S. Aid to Israel!" petition. It's important that House and Senate leaders know right away where you and I stand.
As you respond, would you prayerfully consider a gift today to Christians in Defense of Israel?
