That generated a predictable storm of angry retorts, including one from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahus's son, Yair.

"Are you that stupid?" he exclaimed. "The Bible says that Jesus was born and raised in Judea!"

But Sarsour held her ground, insisting without evidence that Jesus was Palestinian. After all, she announced, "Jesus was born in Bethlehem which is in Palestine."

And that's her point: "Palestine" somehow predates Israel. In her calculus, it existed long before Jewish "settlers" laid any claim to the Holy Land.

Sarsour, a high-profile Muslim Palestinian activist—and the pal of Muslim Congresswomen Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar—is engaging in what's known as the "Big Lie" strategy.

She and others have invented a previously unknown Palestinian past. And for just one purpose: To undermine, delegitimize and destroy Israel.

It's a cynical and deeply anti-Semitic strategy to erase Israel's past and write a new "Holy Land history." Palestinians are already instructing their own young in this new narrative, one in which Palestinians are the central figures—and Jews are the outside intruders, the colonialists, the settlers robbing Palestinians of their made-up glorious past.

That's a claim Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas makes with a straight face—and on the world stage.

"We are the descendants of the Canaanites who lived in the land of Palestine 5,000 years ago, and continuously remained there to this day," Abbas told the UN Security Council last year.

A Palestinian Authority spokesman went even further, announcing the Palestinian people have a "glorious heritage that goes back to the dawn of humanity."

And like Sarsour, Abbas calls Jesus a Palestinian. Abbas converts the Jewish messiah, the descendant of David, into a pro-Palestinian leader whose "message resonates in our prayers for our people in our capital Jerusalem. . . ."

Likewise, Palestinians convert the Temple Mount—where Jewish temples stood for some 800 years—into an exclusively Muslim holy site.

And UNESCO did its past to erase Israel's history by referring to the Temple Mount—where Solomon prayed and Jesus was presented to the Lord—with exclusively Arab/Muslim names. Instead of "Temple Mount," UNESCO referred to the "Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif"—the "Farthest Mosque"/"the Noble Santuary."

This same Israel denial works its way into the American media and our nation's college campuses, too. But working together, we can and MUST expose and defeat the lies used to foment anti-Semitism and delegitimize the nation of Israel.
