Netanyahu Rips Ilhan Omar

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu took a swipe at Rep. Ilhan Omar Tuesday in his speech to the American Israel Political Action Committee (AIPAC).

"Take it from this Benjamin," Netanyahu told some 18,000 people at AIPAC's annual conference, "It's not about the 'Benjamins'"--a reference to $100 bills which bear Ben Franklin's image.

Omar infamously charged in February that the "Benjamins"--Jewish money--accounts for U.S. support for Israel. But despite Omar's anti-Semitic smear, it's not money that drives U.S. support for Israel. As Netanyahu told AIPAC in a video link from Israel, it's shared values...

"It's because America and Israel share a love of freedom and democracy. It's because we cherish individual rights and the rule of law."

+ + + The best way to fight anti-Semitism...

And at a time when anti-Semitism is rising globally, Netanyahu said the best way to fight this ancient scourge is to follow the example of Mordecai who refused to bow to Haman in the Old Testament book of Esther.

"The best way to respond to those who hate the Jews is not to bow down to them," Netanyahu proclaimed. "It's to stand up to them."

And that's exactly what your generosity enables Christians in Defense of Israel to do every day. Thanks to friends like you, we are confronting anti-Semitism in Congress and in the Democratic Party.

With your help, we gathered and delivered thousands of signatures on a petition demanding that Speaker Nancy Pelosi strip Rep. Omar of her seat on the powerful House Foreign Affairs Committee.

We also called on President Trump to recognize the Golan Heights as sovereign Israeli territory--submitting thousands of petitions in early March to the White House. And just this week President Trump heeded the calls of pro-Israel friends like you when he reversed a half-century of misguided American policy to recognize Israel's just claim to the Golan Heights.

Your voice is being heard!

To help us keep on fighting for Israel, I'm asking for your support now. With just a few days left in March, will you prayerfully consider a much-needed donation to help us end the month strong and on budget?

+ + + Pence calls out Omar, too.

And I want you to know that as we press for Rep. Omar's removal, you and I have friends in high places. Vice President Mike Pence joined the call to unseat Omar from the House Foreign Affairs Committee in his speech this week at AIPAC. Without referring to Omar by name, Pence decried a "freshman Democrat in Congress [who has] trafficked in repeated anti-Semitic tropes."

"Anti-Semitism has no place in the Congress of the United States of America," Pence declared to resounding applause.

"And, at a minimum, anyone who slanders those who support this historic alliance between the United States and Israel should never have a seat on the Foreign Affairs Committee of the United States House of Representatives."

The vice president is absolutely right. And by calling out Omar, he is doing exactly what Prime Minister Netanyahu endorsed in his speech. He is confronting the scourge of anti-Semitism and standing with Israel.

And that's precisely what your generosity enables CIDI to do.

Your support enables CIDI to battle on Capitol Hill and across America to confront anti-Semitism and defend the Jewish people. As we do, you and I have a wonderful promise from God that He will bless those who bless Israel (Gen. 12:3).

+ + + You and I can't sit on the sidelines

The Jewish people, Scripture declares, are God's "treasured possession" and the "apple of His eye." That's why you and I cannot be indifferent when it comes to dangerous, bigoted anti-Semitic attacks.

And that's why I'm asking for your generous support today.

With just a few days left in March, we're running behind on budget. Your gift now will fuel everything we do to keep the U.S.-Israel bond strong, fight anti-Semitism, and mobilize public support for the Jewish state of Israel.

Thank you for your kind and generous support, your love for God's people, and your commitment to keeping the U.S.-Israel relationship strong.

May God bless you and may God bless Israel!

Warmly,

Mat Staver
Chairman

P.S. Your gift now will help us end March strong. Your generosity will go right to work to bless and defend Israel through our public campaigns, our work on Capitol Hill, and through Covenant Journey, our allied ministry to raise up young ambassadors for Israel. Please be as generous as you can!
