Top Democrats--and Bible--Agree on Golan
This might surprise you.
Two top Democrats support Israel's claim to the strategic Golan Heights--and so does the Bible.
I'll get to Scripture in just a minute...
First, you'll probably be glad to know House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer thinks "Israel should maintain control of the Golan Heights," as his spokesperson recently said. And House Foreign Affairs Committee chairman Eliot Engels--also a Democrat--concurs.
But not the Trump administration. The State Department even calls this crucial strip of land "Israeli-occupied territory."
And that's why I'm asking you to join me in petitioning the President to recognize Israel's sovereignty over the Golan Heights.
You can do so right now by signing our "Recognize the Golan Heights Now!" petition!
As you know, the Golan is a 40-mile stretch of rocky highlands on Israel's northeast border. It's a natural buffer to Syrian attack and crucial to Israel's security--even survival.
That's why Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has repeatedly urged President Trump to recognize the Golan as sovereign Israeli territory.
But the White House won't budge...so far.
Which is why it's so crucial for you and me to urge the President to "Recognize the Golan Heights Now!"
When you respond, I'll rush your signed petition, with thousands of others, to the White House and the attention of President Trump.
American recognition of Israel's sovereignty on the Golan is vital. But there's another reason for America to act -- and this one trumps all others.
Not only is the Golan crucial to Israeli security. But this vital region is also part of the original land God gave to the twelve tribes some 3,500 years ago.
In fact, you may know the Golan Heights as biblical Bashan - the region where the tribe of Manasseh settled after Israel entered the Promised Land.
You'll even find "Golan" in the Bible. A city by that name is listed as one of three cities of refuge located east of the Jordan in Deuteronomy 4:41-43. Verse 43 lists the city of "Golan in Bashan for the Manassites."
You can also see Israel's ancient connection to the Golan in the remains of nearly 30 synagogues scattered across the Golan. Some date to the second century A.D. Archaeologists recently renovated a fourth century Golan synagogue where a coin dating to 67 A.D. was discovered. The coin bore this inscription: "For the redemption of Jerusalem the Holy."
The Golan belongs to Israel! And it's time for the U.S. to recognize the obvious - just as President Trump did a year ago when he recognized Jerusalem. That courageous action was long overdue - and so is American recognition of the Golan.
It's been more than 50 years since Israel took the Golan in response to Syria's 1967 invasion and the time is now for the U.S. to recognize the obvious. You can help make that happen by doing two things today.
First, add your signature to the special Recognize the Golan Heights Now! petition
And second, include a gift to help Christians in Defense of Israel fight for Israel.
In thanks for your gift of any amount, I'll be excited to send you our Patriot's Handbook of Essential Reasons to Stand with Israel.
You'll find it a great introduction to amazing, modern Israel, one that gives you a solid, biblical foundation to support the Jewish state of Israel. And when you respond right away, I want to send you two copies -- one for you and another for a friend!
But please act immediately.
Click here to sign the petition and make a much-needed donation now!
Your friendship and support is a great encouragement to me and to God's people in Israel. Thank you for your partnership and prayers!
Sincerely,
Mat Staver
Chairman
