It took a few hours yesterday, but Speaker Nancy Pelosi finally condemned Rep. Ilhan Omar's outrageous anti-Semitic tweet linking Jewish money to American support for Israel.

After that, Omar issued an "unequivocal" apology but it's clear her contrition is far from complete. Two hours later she retweeted a post slamming AIPAC (American Israel Political Action Committee), denouncing Speaker Pelosi and asserting "the Israel lobby uses money to build power."

President Trump today rejected her “lame apology,” saying she “didn’t mean a word of it.” He called on Omar to “either resign from Congress or” from the House Foreign Affairs Committee.

“Anti-Semitism has no place in the United States Congress,” the President declared—and I heartily agree, as I’m sure you do, too!


+ + + Free-lancing for Farrakhan

But now Rep. Rashida Tlaib, the Muslim firebrand from Michigan, is back in the news with a report linking her to America's most vicious and well-known anti-Semite Louis Farrakhan.

Tlaib was a guest columnist in 2006 for Farrakhan's Final Call newspaper--an outlet for the Nation of Islam leader's anti-Semitic rants. A few months before Tlaib's piece attacking U.S. immigration law appeared, Final Call published this Farrakhan screed: "These false Jews promote the filth of Hollywood. . . that is seeding the American people and the people of the world and bringing you down in moral strength."

But Tlaib is not the only Democrat linked to Farrakhan. At least seven other House Democrats have been tied to Farrakhan, who calls Jewish people "Satan" and chanted "Death to Israel" while visiting Iran last November.

• Rep. James Clyburn, House Majority Whip, the No. 3 House Democratic leadership post, has lengthy ties to Farrakhan. He joined Farrakhan on stage in 2011 for an event and later told the Final Call, he was “not bothered in the least bit” by the criticism his appearance provoked.
   
• Rep. Maxine Waters, who is chairman of the powerful House Financial Services Committee, literally embraced Farrakhan when they met in 2006.

It's an outrage that any House Democrat--let alone those in leadership--are tied to a powerful black leader who espouses scurrilous hatred for the Jewish people and Israel.

It's even worse that Speaker Pelosi and House Democratic leaders have been almost silent.
