To Speaker Mike Johnson, House Majority Leader Steve Scalise, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, Senate Majority Leader John Thune, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, and all members of Congress:

The people of Iran are putting their lives on the line in the pursuit of freedom — and the American people and government must not look away.

For years, brave Iranians — women, youth, workers, and families — have taken to the streets demanding fundamental rights, representative government, and an end to the oppressive rule they have been forced to endure. Their peaceful demonstrations have been met with harsh crackdowns, widespread detention, and deadly force.

The Iranian population has spoken with remarkable clarity: They no longer accept the current system of governance and are calling for a peaceful and orderly transition to a free, democratic, and secular society — just like they had prior to the ayatollah’s takeover in 1979.

I am writing to demand Congress and the Trump administration:

Voice clear support for the Iranian people’s aspirations for a democratic future, where rights and liberties are protected.

Monitor, expose, and condemn ongoing human rights violations, ensuring that those responsible are brought to global attention.

Recognize and encourage legitimate Iranian-led movements working toward democratic change.

Sanction the ayatollah, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), and all other forces propping up the illegitimate Islamic Republic of Iran, and support efforts to remove the regime from power.

The people of Iran are not asking the world to fight their battles for them — they are asking the global community, especially the Americans — to stop legitimizing, supporting, or empowering those who harm them. They are calling for an end to the repression enforced by the IRGC and other security forces that have carried out widespread abuses.

Now is the time for America to stand with the Iranian people as they struggle for freedom, dignity, and a future determined by their own will.

Sincerely,

(Your Name)

A freedom-loving American citizen who stands with the Iranian people
